Resolving Disputes with Determination and Creativity

Arkin Kaplan Rice handles a wide variety of civil matters for the business and financial communities and beyond. Whether representing plaintiffs or defendants, we are known for an aggressive and tenacious approach that is focused and well-planned, as well as for developing creative solutions and strategies to resolve complex disputes or problems.

Our clients include some of the world's leading investment banks and advisors, broker dealers, manufacturers, real estate developers, and a wide range of business concerns. For example, we have counseled a prominent investment bank and several of its principals on public and private matters, including litigation arising from a county government's losses involving derivatives securities. In other bank-related matters, we have represented a pre-eminent insurance brokerage concern, in connection with claims involving placement of investment fund insurance, and a leading national bank in several matters, including a multimillion dollar arbitration involving commodities trading and various personnel matters. Additionally, we have advised broker-dealers and hedge funds in a wide variety of matters.

We also help directors, officers and senior executives resolve civil disputes. For example, we have represented several directors of a major chemical company in connection with the restructuring of the company's board and management. We assisted a former chief financial officer of a public company in an SEC enforcement action alleging accounting fraud. We represented independent directors of a healthcare company in connection with a number of class action and derivative cases and investigations by several government agencies. And in a well-known trust and estate litigation, we helped the beneficiaries pursue waste and mismanagement claims against the trustees and advisors.
